Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic, creative, and results-driven Development and Marketing Manager to join
our team. This position combines responsibilities in fundraising, marketing, and audience development.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about classical music and have a proven track record in both
development and marketing roles. Reporting to the Managing Artistic Director, this position plays a
crucial role in growing our audience, increasing support, and enhancing our community presence.
Key Responsibilities
Development
• Plan and execute innovative engagement and fundraising activities to increase support from
individuals, foundations, and corporations.
• Oversee the entire grant lifecycle, from research and proposal writing to submission, monitoring, and
reporting.
• Foster and maintain robust relationships with existing and potential donors.
• Organize and manage fundraising events.
• Manage all development-related communications, including donor acknowledgments, solicitations,
and event invitations.
• Maintain and update the patron database, generating reports and analyses to support organizational
initiatives.
Marketing and Sales
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to grow and sustain subscription and single ticket
sales.
• Plan, write, and manage content for social media, website, and other public-facing media accounts.
• Produce and distribute news releases and other press communications.
• Manage email marketing campaigns and assist with direct mail initiatives.
• Oversee social media, print, and search advertising efforts.• Track and report on marketing performance across all channels.
• Manage and mentor marketing and social media interns, providing guidance and overseeing their
work.
Community Engagement and Partnerships
• Build and manage relationships with partner organizations to boost concert attendance and
community involvement.
• Plan, foster, and maintain new and existing relationships with community organizations.
• Communicate event details and supporting materials with event partners, advertisers, and other
relevant parties.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration, or related field, OR
equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in development and marketing roles, preferably in the
arts sector.
• Proven track record in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.
• Strong marketing and communications skills, including experience with digital marketing and
social media management.
• Excellent writing and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in database management, CRM systems, and standard office technologies.
• Experience in special event planning and execution.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Passion for classical music and the performing arts.
Preferred:
• Experience working with classical music or chamber music organizations.
• Knowledge of the Maryland arts community and funding landscape.
• Previous experience managing interns or junior staff members.
Additional Information
• This position is ideally full-time, but part-time arrangements may be considered for exceptional
candidates.
• The role involves a hybrid work arrangement, requiring regular in-person presence for meetings,
events, and community engagement activities.• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for concerts and special events.
• Salary commensurate with experience and time commitment, plus benefits package for full-time
