The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for a non-tenure track, 10-month faculty appointment with supplemental summer stipends in the Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education beginning August, 2015.

Responsibilities:
The Lecturer and Director of the University Art Galleries will teach two courses per year in their area of expertise, a course with MFA students, and provide support for the museum studies program. The Lecturer and Director of the University Art Galleries provides leadership, direction, and oversees two gallery spaces (The University and Holtzman Galleries) in collaboration with faculty and staff. Ongoing responsibilities include: conceptualizing, scheduling, and creating a 2-5 year exhibition schedule; grant writing and development/fundraising efforts; creating partnerships across campus for programmatic initiatives; oversee staff including curator and gallery installer; maintain annual gallery budgets; oversee and direct faculty gallery committee; curate MFA exhibitions; provide best practices for art handling and storage; coordinate lecture series and related programming for the galleries; maintain gallery webpage and oversee social media for the galleries. Oversee the mission of the Community Art Center that functions, in part, as a “teaching lab” for students.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree (MA or MFA), PhD or degree terminal to the field and at least three years of experience as a museum or university gallery curator or director/curator. Excellent writing skills. Experience in grant writing and knowledge of exhibition procedures including curating, design, installation and museum best practices. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish a strong rapport with varied community audiences required. Teaching experience at the university level in area of applicant’s discipline
